Classification tools deployed in enterprises and military and government bodies to enable regulatory compliance and security
OTTAWA, ON, Canada – November 9, 2005 – TITUS Inc., a provider of policy management software solutions that make it easier for IT administrators to protect and manage email and documents, today announced increased customer momentum for its suite of products designed to meet the policy, compliance and messaging security needs of large enterprises.
TITUS has created a suite of scalable products that make email classification, security and retention easy to implement for both administrators and users. TITUS boasts an impressive list of clients and partners - household names and market leaders in their respective spaces. The company’s classification software has been selected by a variety of companies and organizations, including US Army Forces Command (FORSCOM), Eurofighter, Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, the UK’s Fife Constabulary and many others. TITUS has already issued some 70,000 licenses to corporations and institutions worldwide, reaffirming a growing need for its message classification tools.
“Titus’ suite of products fulfills an obvious market need for discretion and classification, especially within government, military and financial sectors,” said Tim Upton, President, TITUS International Inc. “The implementation of classification regulations in the Australian government is a good example of where organizations are going with regards to messaging security. Not only do our products fulfill a compliance requirement but they also provide users a more secure means of information exchange which can ultimately provide a competitive advantage in the marketplace.”
Message security for large enterprise is a must. Governments and companies worldwide are beginning to implement regulations that will ensure the classification and retention of messages. Public companies are facing increasing pressure to become accountable for the content of messages sent within their organizations. TITUS products help to facilitate compliance with regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, NASD rule 2210, 3110, NYSE rule 440 and HIPAA.
TITUS is closely working with several Australian government departments to ensure their compliance with new email classification regulations. The Australian Department of Transport and Regional Services and the Department of Environment and Heritage have already selected Titus’ software for their email security requirements.
TITUS is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and its flagship product, Message Classification, as well as the more feature-rich MessageRights, is fully integrated with Microsoft Windows Active Directory Rights Management Services (AD RMS). Using AD RMS helps customers better protect their Intranet content, documents, and e-mails by assigning usage rights, such as print, copy, or forward, to a document, e-mail, or other information and specifying the specific individuals who can gain access to it. With MessageRights, administrators can define rights or permissions to be applied based on the classification labels.
“TITUS recognized early on the importance of protecting sensitive information, and we are pleased to be working with the company on its suite of message classification software,” said Piyush Lumba, Senior Product Manager, Server and Tools Marketing at Microsoft Corp. “Coupling the classification capabilities of TITUS with RMS provides a very powerful solution for helping to enforce corporate and government security policies.”
The TITUS suite consists of three products: Message Classification V2.4, MessageRights V2.5, and Rights Gateway V1.1.
Message Classification was developed for large enterprises and is the premier classification and policy enforcement software for Microsoft Office Outlook that allows users to manage the classification, distribution, and retention of valuable corporate email. Fully customizable, Titus’s initial product offering is already deployed by large organizations throughout the world.
MessageRights is a more feature-rich version of the Message Classification offering. In addition to the classification of messages, MessageRights allows for more extensive labeling, and the ability to restrict distribution of sensitive email. Through the use of email safelists MessageRights can ensure that sensitive email messages are distributed only to agreed-upon and authorized recipients.
Where Message Classification and MessageRights are designed for a desktop-based, internal corporate environment, RightsGateway is a powerful server based classification enforcement tool designed to protect sensitive corporate email and ensure that classified information does not leave the company or go to specific external domains. RightsGateway works as an extension of the desktop software, scanning outgoing email to ensure that sensitive email is not sent out of the enterprise, by mistake or by rogue employees.
Founded in 2005, TITUS is a spin-off of TITUS International Inc., where the Message Classification software was first developed. TITUS works to help businesses better manage and secure valuable corporate information by building policy management solutions that make it easier for IT administrators to protect and manage corporate correspondence, including email and documents.
