TITUS Announces Document Classification for Microsoft Office.

Software enables classification and policy management of Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint and Excel files.

OTTAWA, Canada – February 15, 2006 – TITUS Inc., a provider of policy management software solutions that make it easier for IT administrators to protect and manage corporate correspondence including email and documents, today announced Document Classification for Microsoft Office, a classification and policy enforcement solution for Microsoft Office that allows customers to manage the classification, distribution and retention of valuable corporate documents.

Document Classification for Microsoft Office has three components, Document Classification for Microsoft Word, Document Classification for Microsoft PowerPoint and Document Classification for Microsoft Excel. Document Classification for Microsoft Word was released in November 2005, Document Classification for Microsoft PowerPoint was released today, and Document Classification for Microsoft Excel will be available in the second quarter of 2006. Document Classification for Microsoft Office builds upon Titus' successful family of email classification tools already being used by enterprises around the world.

Users creating Word documents, Excel spreadsheets or PowerPoint presentations can use Document Classification to apply classification labels which can be used to enforce privacy, document retention policies, government security policies, or to ensure compliance with legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), or other corporate or legal guidelines. Users can be forced to apply classification labels before the document can be saved or printed. Classification labels are completely customizable and can represent security/ sensitivity, document retention, handling requirements, associated project or case, or any other categorization that is relevant to the enterprise.

Customers can optionally increase the security of their documents via Document Classification’s integration with Microsoft Windows Rights Management Services (RMS) for Windows Server 2003. Administrators can configure Document Classification to automatically apply RMS permissions based on the selected classifications to control viewing, distribution, printing and retention of the document.

“Government and private sector customers are faced with an increasing need to manage and protect internal documents as well as sensitive customer information." said Charlie Pulfer, General Manager, Titus. “Classification of documents provides users and administrators a higher level of document security, archiving and control, and the ability to quickly sort, search and find all documents related to a project, case, customer or other categorization."

"Customers in the government, military and financial sectors are looking for solutions that allow them to extend classification schemes with the capabilities that RMS provides to help protect sensitive documents,” said John Chirapurath, director of Identity and Access Product Management at Microsoft Corp. "We are pleased that TITUS has decided to support the capabilities of the RMS platform to help our mutual customers.”
