TITUS Labs Announces New Document Classification Offering

User-Driven Classification System Reduces Complexity, Adds Intelligence to Handling of Sensitive Information.

Redmond, WA – Homeland Security and Public Safety Symposium – December 5, 2007 –TITUS Inc., a leading provider of government and enterprise data classification software, today announced TITUS Document Classification (TDC) 3.0. This new offering is designed to provide military and homeland defense users with the power to add user-driven classification of documents to protect against inadvertent disclosure or information leakage.

Military and government agencies are subject to rigorous requirements relating to the handling and classification of documents. Automated, or uninformed user classification can lead to mislabelling of information. TDC 3.0 delivers structured user-driven classification which enables document authors, who are most familiar with the content, to make informed decisions about how it should be classified. In addition, TDC 3.0 offers enhanced document protection by ensuring that documents do not contain hidden content or personal information before they are sent outside the company.

“TITUS Document Classification software is a great addition to the Microsoft-based family of defence and homeland security solutions,” said Tim Bloechl, Managing Director for Microsoft’s Worldwide Public Safety and National Security business. “Through its support of Office 2007 features, such as the Document Inspector and native XML files, it will meet the classification and marking needs of our military, and homeland security and public safety customers.”

TDC 3.0 offers the following advanced features:

  • Guided Classification: Makes it easy for users to select the correct classification through context sensitive labelling, content scanning of the document, and customizable help.
  • Portion Marking: Enables users to classify individual portions of the document, uses XML tags to record the classification and automatically upgrades the document based on the highest classification used.
  • Document Protection: Stops information leaks of visible and hidden content.
  • Fully Customizable Document Labelling: Raises awareness and increases accountability for proper document handling with customizable fonts, size, text for headers/footers, watermarking and different policies for different labels.

“Our military and government customers are telling us that correct and complete classification of all documents is a major priority, but one that is often error-ridden and too complicated for the average user,” said Tim Upton, President and CEO of Titus. “The reality is that the user knows what is in a document and how it should be handled. TDC 3.0 is a real first in the industry, putting power in the user’s hands and making it simple for them to quickly and accurately classify information.”

TITUS Document Classification 3.0 works with Microsoft Office 2007 and 2003.

Pricing and Availability

Pricing for TDC 3.0 starts at $29.99 USD per user and is available through TITUS and associated resellers immediately.
