Offering enables organizations to restrict what type of information can be viewed when using Web mail to prevent leakage of sensitive or confidential information
Ottawa, ON – May 5, 2008 – TITUS, a leading provider of email and document classification software today announced the release of the latest version of its classification offering designed to support Microsoft Outlook Web App. TITUS Message Classification (TMC) Web Access 1.6 is the most advanced OWA classification tool on the market that enables organizations to share sensitive information securely over a browser. The solution will restrict the type of information viewed by employees using Web mail to help prevent leakage of sensitive or confidential information. IT administrators are able to deliver information to employees with mobile email access, while setting parameters for any email or attachments that may not be appropriate to view outside the confines of the organization’s firewall.
Users are increasingly mobile and are demanding the capability of being able to access email from remote locations and through standard Web browsers. For many organizations, particularly in the military, government and aerospace industries, this represents a particular challenge given the highly sensitive nature of much of the information sent over email or contained in attachments. The TMC Web Access Edition was designed knowing that many people are using Microsoft Outlook Web App to review email and documents; TMC Web Access 1.6 enables organizations to deliver Web mail capabilities while extending the security requirements of the organization beyond the perimeter.
“All organizations, particularly the government and military are trying to find a way to balance the need for mobile access to email with the need to ensure the security and integrity of these communications,” said Mark Bodley, Messaging Architect, Fujitsu Services. “The TITUS Labs OWA offering enables organizations to carefully control how email is handled outside of the organization, thereby meeting user needs and the organization’s security and privacy requirements.”
TMC Web Access 1.6 is designed to enable organizations to ensure all email are classified and labeled regardless of the physical location of the sender. The OWA Prevent™ feature enables IT administrators to restrict users from viewing messages that have been classified as confidential or sensitive, as well as prevent them from viewing email that contain confidential attachments. The Message Classification for Web Access product is now supported on both the Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2007 platforms.
“When organizations provide Web access to email, they often overlook the need to extend existing email security policies to cover how this information should be handled,” said Tim Upton, President, Titus. “Organizations need to consistently apply their policies including classification and labeling to all email. TITUS Message Classification Web Access enables them to enforce the proper handling of sensitive information on all email and reduce the likelihood of inadvertent data leakage.”
