Extending FCI with the addition of User Based Classification and Policy Enforcement
Ottawa, ON —January 6, 2010 — TITUS today announced that its family of user-based classification offerings is fully interoperable with Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 File Classification Infrastructure (FCI). TITUS Message Classification (TMC) and TITUS Document Classification (TDC) enable organizations to build on the server-based classification offered as part of FCI. An information management strategy that delivers both user and server based classification enables organizations to drive the highest levels of user awareness and reduce the risk of accidental data leakage.
While the server-based classification in FCI enables organizations to classify data either by content or folder, information may be misclassified. Organizations can address this issue by implementing TMC and TDC which includes users, who are most familiar with the data, in the classification process. Furthermore TITUS enables users to quickly and easily correct any incorrect classifications. The end result is a higher level of end user awareness, properly marked data and reduced risk of accidental data leakage.
"Being able to manage data based on its business value enables organizations to handle sensitive information with more care,” said Eric Jewett, Director Windows Server Marketing, Microsoft Corporation. “The combined TITUS and Microsoft solution delivers rich capabilities for automatic classification and policy enforcement at both the server and end user level."
Information classification is the critical first step in managing data based on its business value. TMC enables organizations to force user classification of Microsoft Outlook email, while TDC drives classification of Microsoft Office Documents. The addition of TMC and/or TDC to existing FCI capabilities enables organizations to create an end-to-end classification strategy, which is critical to ensuring compliance, reducing risk and protecting valuable data. Both TMC and TDC were fully tested with the RTM Microsoft Window Server 2008 R2FCI.
"In conjunction with Microsoft, TITUS classification software delivers the power to better manage information and ensure protection and policy enforcement within the enterprise,” explained Charlie Pulfer vice president of Product Management for TITUS “Information management is a critical area for enterprises as they strive to protect their most valuable asset, their information from issues such as accidental data leakage. The combination of user and server based classification delivers an unprecedented level of protection with industry-leading automatic classification capabilities."
