Secure information sharing offerings enable organizations to address and manage ISO 27001 requirements
London, UK (Infosecurity Europe Booth J30) – April 28, 2010 — TITUS a leading provider of security and compliance solutions for email and documents, today announced that it is working with a number of organizations to help them achieve ISO 27001 Certification. Leading organizations in Europe including G4S Security Services and Paternoster have achieved certification through their use of Titus.
ISO 27001 is an emerging Information Security Management System standard that requires the protection of information assets for risk avoidance. The system requires that organizations bring information security, including labelling and classification of emails and documents, under explicit management control. Organizations that claim to have adopted ISO 27001 can therefore be formally audited and certified compliant with the standard.
UK-based Paternoster was focused on becoming the first insurance company in the world to be fully ISO certified. To achieve this certification, Paternoster required a mechanism to ensure information management was under explicit control. Using the combination of TITUS Message Classification (TMC) and TITUS Document Classification (TDC) which integrate tightly with the organization’s existing Microsoft infrastructure, Paternoster was able to easily apply data marking and protection as part of their overall security and compliance strategy.
"We are the first insurance company in the world to achieve ISO certification, and this is a major differentiator for us, as our customers have confidence that information is handled with the highest levels of care," said Elliot MacInnes, IT Manager, Paternoster. “TITUS solutions have helped with achieving this certification, to prevent inadvertent data loss, and help raise awareness to the sensitivity of information."
G4S Security Services Bulgaria recently achieved ISO 27001 compliance, and is protecting data from improper or unauthorized disclosure. Email and documents are all visually labelled, with clearly identifiable handling instructions and metadata leveraged by Microsoft Active Directory. Employees are handling classification within their existing workflows in Microsoft Office and Outlook, with very little training. With the investment in TITUS, the organization has been able to fulfill the ISO 27001 certification requirements for classification with little impact on its employees, administrators or budget.
"ISO 27001 certification is a major differentiator for our organization, so to ensure ongoing compliance we needed our users to fully embrace and understand classification,” said Boris Goncharov, IT/IS Manager, G4S Security Services Bulgaria, JSC. “We deal with a number of complex security technologies, and TITUS offered a proven and simple to use classification solution that worked within our existing Microsoft infrastructure. Our customers have confidence that we are executing information management with a definite and enforced standard, and we have confidence that users are handling information appropriately."
