More access than ever is now online and in networks. With this in mind, businesses must do what is right for them by making sure only those who need to view sensitive information have access to it. Without proper privileges in place, important files could end up in the wrong person's hand. Businesses should also invest in a data loss prevention program, as InfoWorld said there are now thousands of applications and hundreds of administrators make it hard for any one person to keep an eye on the system without tools.

In an effort to create a better data loss prevention policy covering all state residents, California legislators have proposed a "The Right to Know Act," which would allow consumers to see a copy of all personal data being stored by brokers that is about them, InformationWeek reported.
