European companies see data loss prevention as vital for the cloud
February 17, 2012

European businesses are beginning to implement innovative technologies to help them improve efficiency, but cloud data security is still a major concern. In fact, data loss prevention in the cloud was a top priority for 71 percent of survey respondents in an Interxion Holding study, according to Dark Reading.

"Though companies have been transitioning to the cloud for some time now, there are still perceived obstacles that need to be addressed before many companies discover the cloud's full potential," Vincent in't Veld of Interxion said, according to the news source.

Nevertheless, nearly half of respondents said more than 50 percent of their IT infrastructure would be migrated to the cloud within the next two years. An additional 23 percent said that nearly three-quarters of their IT solutions will be hosted in the cloud by the same time, Dark Reading noted.

One technique businesses can use to ensure cloud data security is to implement strong user authentication services, according to a Cloud Computing 365 report. This can be done with encryption or data classification programs, as both technologies restrict access to sensitive information.
