Protective Marking

One of the most effective ways to increase security awareness is to add visual markings to email. By including classification labels in the message itself, both the sender and recipient are more accountable for proper information handling.

The Protective Marking feature automatically adds visual markings that are consistent and compliant with your organization’s email labeling policies. Protective marking options include:

  • Message body labeling at the top and bottom of the email.
  • Subject line marking, including classification abbreviations.
  • Dynamic disclaimers that provide additional handling instructions based on the selected classification.
  • Auto-population of Microsoft Outlook categories to provide visual cues and enhanced searching in the user's inbox.

Protective markings are completely customizable by the administrator, including control over the font, text, color, and placement of the visual markings.
