Just like that – you snap your fingers, and it’s over! What a great week we had at Infosecurity Europe 2014 in London with non-stop traffic at our booth, great meetings, and loads of interest in our classification solutions for both desktop and mobile. Even the London tube strike couldn’t dampen spirits and keep people from the expo!
TITUS spent some time at Infosec demonstrating to organizations how they can use our classification solutions to comply with the Government Security Classifications (formerly GPMS). TITUS Classification solutions have been deployed to more than 40 councils and police forces in the UK, including Homes and Communities Agency.
“Our organisation has been using TITUS Message Classification and Classification for Office for a number of years to help us comply with GPMS requirements,” said Marc Compton, Information Security Officer with Homes and Communities Agency. “When it came time to shift our classification scheme in order to comply with GSC, TITUS helped us to make these changes quickly and seamlessly.”
Worker privacy is still a hot button issue for organizations based in Europe. European government and workers’ rights advocates have established rules and guidelines for the protection of worker privacy, most notably the European Works Councils Directive 94/45/EC. According to these guidelines, using a security system which remains in constant surveillance mode to scan all employee correspondence is a violation of a worker’s privacy. Organisations that are looking for a way to balance data protection with worker privacy have found TITUS Classification to be a viable solution. With TITUS Classification organisations can configure a special classification for employees’ personal documents and email (such as “Employee Private” or “Private”) and can then instruct content scanning systems to ignore files where this classification is used. This solution makes it possible to maintain data security without violating privacy regulations.
Having the opportunity to speak with European-based organizations in person about these circumstances, and how our solutions can help, made the week incredibly worthwhile. We also were able to showcase our TITUS Mobile solutions, and got some great feedback from Infosec attendees.
Looking forward to Infosec Europe 2015! Until next year…
